Sergi Roberto: "Memphis has incredible quality"

Sergi Roberto has said that he is happy with the efforts of the players during the first two weeks of pre-season.

"We're all working to our limits. It's been really hot, but this will help us get into shape before the domestic season begins. We're all very happy. We've played our first match of pre-season, which went well, and now we need to continue with our preparations. We're excited about the upcoming season, and we have a team that is ready to fight on all fronts", he said to the club's official channels.

The La Masia graduate is confident that the squad will demonstrate high amounts of team work during the upcoming campaign: "We want to start the season on the front foot, given how slowly we started last season", he added.

On Wednesday's friendly against Nàstic de Tarragona (0-4), Roberto said: "It was a good performance considering it was the first game of pre-season. We had some chances in the first half, but the goalkeeper had a great game. Nàstic then went down to ten-men at the end of the first half. In the second, the young players from Barça B were really impressive. I'm happy that so many new players were able to make their debuts. We need to have faith in the academy, because there are some really good players there".

Memphis is "blessed"

Barça's fourth captain lauded praise on new signing Memphis Depay, who may feature in tomorrow's friendly against Girona. "Everyone knows about [Depay]. He has incredible quality, and he's proven this for Lyon and the Dutch national team. He's a fantastic player, and after only a few training sessions you can see the amazing quality that he possesses. I'm sure that he'll be able to help us a lot this season, and I'm sure he can't wait to get started", he concluded.
