The German coach has done well at Leipzig and is highly thought of in the game

RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann is the coach Joan Laporta would like to take over at Barcelona if he doesn't stick with Ronald Koeman, according to Cadena SER.

The Barça president respects and valued the work Koeman's carrying out but would not have chosen him personally. Remember, though, that Koeman still has a year to run on his deal at Camp Nou.

Nagelsmann, the former Hoffenheim coach, applies a modern and brave style of football that has been widely praised in recent years.

Last season, he led Leipzig to the semifinal of the Champions League, although they were knocked out of this season's competition by Liverpool this week.

The Bavarian coach is only 33 and if he came to Camp Nou he would become one of the youngest managers in the history of the Catalan club.

In any case, SER's report doesn't rule out Koeman staying on if Barça win a trophy this season, although the journalist who gave the information, Manu Carreño, has previously reported that Laporta and his general manager Mateu Aleman had other options to Koeman in mind.

Before Sunday's election, Koeman sent a warning: "If the new president doesn't have plans for me, we have a problem, because I have a second year on my contract."
