The Napoli defender has been linked with Camp Nou move in the past

One of the best defenders in Serie A, Napoli and Senegal's Kalidou Koulibaly, has been linked with Barcelona this summer.

In an interview with SoFoot, the centre-back said he's working hard in the hope of one day being able to sign for a club like Barça.

Diego Maradona said in March that "if Koulibaly was white, he would already be at Real [Madrid] or Barcelona."

Koulibaly responded: "Maradona said I could play for Barcelona or Real? I will leave that to the presidents to decide, I just try to do my best on and off the pitch.

"Some black players are already at the best clubs in the world and I hope to be part of that one day, too."

The defender joined Napoli in 2014 and made 40 appearances last season scoring five goals.

"The best defender in Serie A? My objective is to be in the top five, but I still have room to grow," he continued in the interview with SoFoot.

"This season I scored five goals, which is difficult for a defender, but I want more next season. I like to watch my games back to see the errors I made."

With respect to Senegal at the World Cup (they face Colombia for a place in the last 16), he said: "We're capable of the best and the worst. You have to have confidence in yourself but not too much.

"Senegal are known for their humility, we're in touch with our roots, our blood and that's how we have to continue to be."

Senegal and Japan top Group H with four points, followed by Colombia on three, while pointless Poland have already been eliminated.
