Saul linked with Barcelona as he struggles for minutes at Chelsea
The midfielder's loan move to London has not gone as planned so far
Saul Niguez has been linked with Barcelona. The Atletico Madrid midfielder, on loan at Chelsea, is not enjoying many minutes under Thomas Tuchel and reports in England speculate he could leave in January. As was the case in the summer, the option of a move to Can Barça is once again on the table.
Saul has played 238 minutes for Chelsea and the majority of them have been in the EFL Cup, where Tuchel gives game time to those that don't play regularly. In addition, when he has played, he hasn't convinced, which has led to criticism as he's failed to live up to the reputation he arrived at Stamford Bridge with. Beyond life on the pitch, there are also reports that he's struggled to adapt to his new life in London.
Therefore, the Spanish midfielder could end his loan with Chelsea in January. In that case, he would look for a new club where he can play more and, among other things, win his place back in the Spanish national team.
Remember that Barça have been looking for a new midfielder for a while, although it remains to be seen if the arrival of Xavi Hernandez as coach and the emergence of Gavi and Nico will change their plans.
