Santos want six month Neymar ban for contract breach

Santos are ready to take things to the very limit against Barcelona’s Brazilian forward Neymar, who was their star and helped them to a lot of success during his time in Brazil.

They feel betrayed by Neymar and have requested FIFA suspend the player for six months in relation to the civil and sporting action the club opened against him at the beginning of this year.

Santos have presented their case based on what they deem was a contract breach when he transferred to Barcelona. Neymar has always rejected this accusation and has manifested that he left Santos after reaching an agreement with the the club.

The Brazilian side wants compensation in the region of 55 million euros, but, for now, it’s not known when FIFA will make a ruling.

Neymar’s accused by Santos of infringing Article 63 of FIFA’s Code of Discipline. In the same document they talk of the player’s “bad faith” in violating different articles of FIFA’s transfer rules — articles 17(3) and 17(5) to be more specific.

Barça’s No.11 has always defended himself with a letter from the former Santos president, Luis Alvaro de Oliveira, who authorised the negotiations with FC Barcelona in 2011.
