It's no secret that Samuel Umtiti has been put up for sale by FC Barcelona this summer. Despite the talented defender having years left on his contract, Barça feel Umtiti's injury record is reason to look elsewhere. Yet those injury problems are why finding a new team for the Frenchman is proving difficult. That and his wage demands.
However, it at least seems like Umtiti is aware he might need to leave Barça. His brother and agent, Yannick Umtiti, spoke to 'foot01.com' about the defender's situation. "Samuel doesn't want to leave Barça this summer. However, taking into account the club's wishes and their desire for change, it might be necessary to look at alternative options. The rumour (linking Umtiti) with Lyon is good but unfortunately, there's very little chance of it happening."
The 26-year-old Umtiti is open to a move but his options are likely to be limited. The chance of joining Lyon, for now, isn't on the table.
