A few weeks ago an agent who usually works with Barcelona, put the name of Samuel Umtiti on the table during negotiations with a ‘middle class’ European club. Among laughter, the interlocutor for the other club asked if this was a joke.
The response was silence. The name of a player who was once a world champion with France did not crop up again. It’s an example, a graphic one, of the difficulty of moving the defender on. Some at the club call him “an ex player”. Xavi tried to recover the cause by stating him against Osasuna, a way of putting him in the shop window. He’s 28 years old and has a contract until 2023.
