The forward is out of contract in 2023 and talks have stalled with the Premier League side
Mohamed Salah has emerged as an option for Barcelona and the reality is that a deal is feasible given the Liverpool forward has given signs that he would be willing to move to Camp Nou this summer if there's an agreement with Liverpool.
Salah spoke with Barça to years ago, but a deal was impossible financially. Now everyone is clear that it could be done given he is out of contract in 2023 and has no intention of renewing.
Salah's idea is to leave the Premier League this year or next, although he would prefer it to be this summer if a reasonable fee can be agreed.
Barça are monitoring the situation and looking into the viability of an operation that would see the club make a real statement, although they are aware PSG have also sounded Salah out.
The Egypt forward feels his winning cycle is coming to an end at Liverpool and is ready to make a change. His camp have explained that to Barça and other clubs.
Liverpool have offered him a new deal but it has not drawn a response. Barça are aware of his financial demands and believe the deal is much more feasible than one for Erling Haaland, although they have no control over how much Liverpool will want.
The Premier League side are tough negotiators and even though Salah is into the final year of his deal they won't let him leave cheaply.
Barça are following the option with a lot of interest because Salah scores a lot of goals and is a huge figure in the game, but they don't want to get ahead of themselves. Firstly because PSG could make a better financial offer and secondly because they don't want to annoy Liverpool at a crucial stage of the season.
Barça believe 70 million would be a reasonable cost and Salah's wages would be affordable over a long-term contract. If everything falls into place, Barça could make a move, but they have not made that step yet.
