Rudi Garcia's warning for Koeman with Messi and Depay in the middle

The Lyon coach noted the irony of Koeman's Paris Saint-Germain complaints last week

Lyon coach Rudi Garcia has called out Ronald Koeman's hypocrisy in complaining about Paris Saint-Germain's pursuit of Lionel Messi when he did the same with Memphis Depay.

Koeman said last week that PSG's repeated comments about Messi were "disrespectful" but Garcia pointed out he did exactly the same with Lyon striker Memphis.

"I read that Ronald Koeman was a little offended that PSG spoke about Lionel Messi before a Champions League game," Garcia said in an interview with beIN.

"But he wasn't afraid to talk about Memphis Depay, even after the transfer window had closed. The boot is on the foot now.”

Koeman didn't hide his desire to sign Memphis last summer, although the player himself also expressed a desire to leave Lyon for another club.

In fact, on repeated occasions, he's expressed his wish to link up with Koeman, his former national team coach, at Camp Nou.

"Who wouldn't want to play at Barça?" he said. "They're a top club. There are a lot of top clubs, but Barça are one of the biggest."

Barça tried to sign Memphis but the salary cap would not allow it and they were unable to make space for him. He is out of contract in the summer and could join for free.
