Ronald Koeman's two touchline rants against Dynamo Kyiv
The Dutch coach had a go at Ansu and Dest during the game
It was not an easy afternoon for anyone at Camp Nou. The cold, the enormous importance of the game, the second goal that did not arrive, the doubts, and a Ronald Koeman, desperate in his technical area.
He had one of his most tense days on the sideline. Defeat would have virtually knocked his team out of the competition. Koeman was active on the touchline, trying to correct his players.
Barca had a poor game far from what the fans want from them. Koeman was desperate in his technical area, above all when Ansu tried a ball juggle and semi-overhead kick at the start of the second half, when he had Coutinho and Busquets available. Koeman ranted.
“Ansu is missing some things and that’s normal,” said Koeman. “You have to think he’s a player that has been out for such a long time. He needs time to improve in all senses. That’s normal. He’s going to be 19. You can’t ask that at that age he solves everything we needs or fills in for Leo Messi. Everyone has to do it. I have to talk to him about that move. He should have given it to Coutinho or Busquets, but you have to go step by step. You can’t expect miracles from Ansu Fati because he’s been out for so long and needs a lot of work.”
Later, Koeman had a go at Dest when he did not press right and Dynamo were able to counter.
