The coach asked one thing of the new president between now and season's end

Ronald Koeman and his staff arrived at Barcelona at a bad time, with limitless problems and crises. However he has brought hope back to the club and got them back on track.

With two titles at stake, he doesn’t want anything to distract his players and he’s said as much to president Joan Laporta.

He has held various meetings with the new president, talking about possible ins and outs. However the club’s situation and high salary mean it’s more important to let players go first.

Koeman told Laporta he doesn’t want the planning for next season to interfere with the day to day of the run-in, above all on the players who could leave.

Koeman likes the tight-knit dressing room and doesn’t want that spirit and atmosphere to be broken. He has asked the board to be discreet until the season ends. Various players’ future are at stake. But Koeman doesn’t want the club’s hand to be revealed until after the season, believing that will be enough time for agents to plan the futures of players who are not wanted.
