The Dutch coach was boastful when speaking to NOS about himself and Barca

Ronald Koeman spoke about his relationship with Joan Laporta and did not hold his tongue.

“My relationship with Laporta has improved but last week something happened that was… was not good,” Koeman told NOS in an interview.

“He was suggesting that the coach didn’t have all the power, he spoke too much.”

He also referred to the uncertainty the club went through while Laporta was deciding whether Koeman should stay on.

“I think you should always create clarity,” said the coach. “When you, as a club, don’t have the coach’s future set in stone, then there’s speculation. And if it’s you who is the coach, things aren’t nice.”

Perhaps most controversially, he gave himself the credit for what could happen over the next few years at Barca.

"I am open to staying," added Koeman. "Thanks to me, this club has a future."
