Ronald Koeman sticks to his word on Pique and Sergi Roberto
The Dutch coach did not include them in the squad to face Valladolid
Ronald Koeman confirmed his squad list for the clash with Valladolid on Monday and he is sticking to his word. On Sergi Roberto and Gerard Pique, not included, he said: “They are training with the team, we won’t risk them, not just for the Clasico but for any game.” And so they will not play a part tonight.
It was expected, given Sergi Roberto has trained for a week, that he would be included. However he will likely have to wait for the Clasico to come back since the injury he suffered in the Copa del Rey against Granada.
With Sergino Dest in good form, Koeman is in no rush to bring back the Catalan.
Pique, meanwhile, we don’t know if he will be fit for the Clasico at Valdebebas. The defender would doubtless love to play. He made a miracle recovery to feature against PSG in February, if you recall.
