Ronald Koeman on Leo Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo
The coach says you have to enjoy what both players bring to the table
FC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman spoke about Leo Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo, which happens on Tuesday at Camp Nou when Barcelona host Juventus.
In his pre-match press conference, Koeman was asked about the eternal battle of the two football legends.
"It's fantastic that they have both maintained that level for 15 years," said Koeman. "For me they have been the two best players in the world. They have very different characteristics but both are capable of scoring goals, hat-tricks, winning titles. It's not about which is better because the two have done and won many things, it's about enjoying both of them tomorrow."
Asked if Ronaldo's return was extra motivation for Messi, Koeman responded: "For us it's not an extra stimulus that a specific player is coming, but these are two big teams fighting for first place in the group, the important thing is to get top spot."
The Dutchman added: "Cristiano is still one of the best, he works every day to stay there, you have to respect him. We should try to have the ball so that he can't be a danger."
