The Dutch coach spoke about his compatriot who will soon join the club

Ronald Koeman has total confidence. He asked for Memphis Depay from the first day he arrived at Barca as coach and now he’s on the verge of getting his man. The Dutch forward has not officially signed yet but it is coming soon. Koeman spoke about this at the presentation of a statue of honour of his father at the Gronigan stadium, to mark the club’s 50th anniversary.

Asked by the media, Koeman said: “Memphis said something about his future and I can confirm it. As far as I know it’s going well. It’s not signed but almost. We wand him in January and now he’s coming it’s great for us.”

On not signing Georginio Wijnaldum, the Barca coach said: “I spoke with Gini about his signing and in the end he took a decision. He had to look at the situation of Barcelona (in that they had not ratified Koeman as coach yet).”
