The Tenerifian has impressed the Dutch coach with his talent

On occasions, things go just as you'd dreamed it. And Pedri's first few weeks have gone that way for him. He spoke to SPORT in an interview in July, saying his intention was to work as hard as possible to stay and play for the first team. And that's what happened.

The former Las Palmas midfielder has started well and impressed coach Ronald Koeman. He wants him in the squad, and Ronald has told him that he believes in him - but the competition at Barca is ferocious and he needs to be patient too.

After the 8-2 smashing by Bayern, president Josep Maria Bartomeu recognised the need to refresh the squad. In came young players - Pedri and Trincao, adding to Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati.

Barca rejected loan and transfer offers for Pedri and Trincao, as he shone in training, showing his talent, mobility and capacity for link up play. He's been compared to Andres Iniesta and it's true he has a similar style to the Barca legend. Pedri works well in tight spaces too, which Koeman likes. He can play on the wings but is more a No 10, where he featured against Nastic. He needed little more than 15 minutes to show his class. Against Girona he showed it again.

He only got a few minutes against Elche, which shows Pedri has to continue with his feet on the floor, giving his best in whatever time he is given, be it 30 minutes or two.
