The Barca coach went into detail on the two South American stars

Barca coach Ronald Koeman spoke to NOS in the Netherlands, analysing his first months in charge of the Catalan giants and, of course, his dealings with Leo Messi and Luis Suarez.

"The first thing I did when I signed on here was meet Messi in his house," said Koeman. "His discontent with the club was clear, but in the end it worked and from the moment he said 'I'll do it', he's done everything expected of him."

Since taking the job, Koeman has been dealing with the club's desire to sell players, including Suarez.

"I told Suarez honestly (that he wouldn't have much chance of playing), it was hard for him but I never had a problem with him. Simply he trained, and trained well.

"I'm good with Luis, but the club thought we had to make the team younger and that you can see now in the group.

"Ansu Fati plays, he's 17, we have Pedri, 17, Ronald Araujo is 21, Trincao is 20, and we signed Sergino Dest, 19. These are players for the future."
