Ronald Koeman still wants a No 9 signing but knows it's hard

The Dutchman spoke after the 1-0 win over Huesca at a cold El Alcoraz

Ronald Koeman spoke to the media after Barca’s 1-0 win at El Alcoraz, satisfied with the win over Huesca. He acknowledged that he would still like a new striker although is not overly optimistic about that happening in the winter transfer window.

“There’s no need to repeat what we said at the start of the season, that we need someone up front to have more competition, more goals and more efficiency, but it depends on a lot of things,” said Koeman.

He thought the team did well until the end against Huesca.

“Ignoring the last 20 minutes we were good in our play and it wasn’t easy against such a tight defence. We were calm playing on the wings and we scored a great goal.

“In the end we suffered a little because they tried to create something. They crossed in the ball and we defended it well. If you don’t get two or three goals to kill the game you always suffer a bit.”

On the benched Antoine Griezmann, he added: “I trust each player in our squad. If we go for three midfielders, we have space for three forwards. With Messi open on one side we went for those who can give us a lot of depth in Ousmane Dembele, and Martin Braithwaite because in these type of games we need a player of his style. That doesn’t say anything about Antoine. We need all the players, there are many games ahead.”
