Ronald Araujo will make his 100th Barcelona appearance at Old Trafford
The Uruguayan has emerged as a key player for Xavi Hernandez's team
FC Barcelona's Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araujo will make his 100th appearance in a Barcelona shirt at Old Trafford in the second leg of the Europa League play-off against Manchester United. Araujo, since his debut on 6 October 2019, has accumulated 99 appearances, with a record of 65 wins, 19 draws and 15 defeats.
Araujo, who did not play against Cádiz (2-0) due to suspension, joined Barça at the end of August 2018 from Boston River of Uruguay. He signed for five seasons (until June 2023) and the Blaugrana paid €1.7 million plus variables up to a maximum of €5.2 million. In April 2022 he signed a new contract until June 2026, increasing his clause from €200 million to €1 billion.
Araujo's first game had a bittersweet taste for the Charrúa. He came on in the 73rd minute against Sevilla for Todibo and was shown a red card for a foul on 'Chicharito' when he was the last defender.
