Ronald Araujo: To have Robert Lewandowski with us is tremendous
The Uruguayan centre-back is pleased not to be facing the Polish striker now
Ronald Araujo knows what suffering against Robert Lewandowski is like. Now he’s discovering what it’s like to play by his side. The Pole is the big threat to his former side Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
“We all know his quality, to have him with us is something tremendous,” said the Uruguayan.
The defender does not have to worry about the striker, but he will be taking on top-level players regardless. “I’m preparing normally,” said Araujo, ahead of his battles with Sadio Mane, Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller, among others. “I analyse the players I’m facing. They are high quality. I have some experience, I’ve played against players like this and I’m preparing like normal. Their virtues, what foot they are and a little more.”
Araujo is convinced the team can compete. “We’re at a great level, we know we had to improve from last season, to let in less goals. With the quality we have up front, if we keep clean sheets, we can win games. It was something to work on. We have fine forwards, but we hope to keep clean sheets.”
