Ronald Araujo reappears for Barcelona in Celta win after 40 days out injured

The defender had not played since the opening game of the season at Getafe

On the first day of La Liga, 13 August 2023, Xavi placed Koundé and Christensen at centre-back and Araujo played as a right-back. In a game with little football, the Uruguayan was one of the best players.

Shortly afterwards the club confirmed that the Uruguayan had been injured in training. Araújo suffered an injury to the biceps femoris in his right leg and it has taken a month and a week for Ronald to make his official debut at the Lluís Companys.

Araujo's winning character and grit is another argument to add competitive arguments. Quick and correct in defence and with hierarchy to join the attack, Araujo always gives his all to help the team in difficult situations.

He returned as a second-half substitute in the 3-2 win over Celta Vigo, playing 45 minutes as Barça came from behind to win 3-2.

It is good news for Xavi, who with Joao Cancelo now at right-back will have to pick between Kounde, Christensen and Araujo, with Iñigo Martinez also on the scene.
