Roma pull out of Joan Gamper friendly leaving Barça furious
The Catalans are looking for a new opponent and may try to sue the Italian sides
Barcelona announced on Monday night that Roma will not be the Joan Gamper Trophy opponent on August 6 at Camp Nou.
Jose Mourinho’s side have pulled out of the game, and the Roma women's team will also not be playing Barça Femeni, in what was supposed to be a glorious double-header to open the season.
The Catalans said it was “without cause” and that they contravened the “written contract by both sides”.
The club say they are looking for a new opponent for the game and will refund any fans who have already bought tickets for the match.
They also say the legal department are studying whether a case can be brought against Roma for damage caused by the decision.
