Robert Lewandowski needs to force his way out of Bayern to sign for Barcelona

The Polish striker has decided to leave according to media in his country

Robert Lewandowski’s future is a big question to be resolved. It depends on the forward and if he can reach a deal with Bayern Munich. The German club are determined to keep him and not let their record breaking scorer leave, so he will have to force his way out. His age - 33 - and wages make it hard for Barcelona but they believe they can do it.

The club want to sign a star this summer and goals are a priority. Lewandowski wants a two year deal with Bayern at least beyond his contract that extends in 2023 but he’s only been offered a year’s extension. Lewandowski believes he can play at the top level for three seasons more.

Barcelona are confident he will provide goals in these three years and be a good leader for an otherwise young project. His quality and experience and professionalism are a perfect combination. For him to come he will have to force the issue with Bayern. They have declared him untransferable.

Barcelona have various alternatives on the table. Haaland is a priority but he is likely to go elsewhere. Mo Salah has fallen off the list because he will renew with Liverpool.
