The Polish forward would like to link up with the Argentine

FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has taken stock of his first season at the Catalan giants. The Pole, in an interview with TVE, has assured he is “happy" for what he has achieved and that he wants to continue being part of the project.

"We can be happy with what we have achieved. I'm happy not only for the club and my team-mates, but also for the city, the fans.... I'm happy to be here," said Lewandowski.

On the future, the Barcelona '9' has assured, without any doubt, that "I want to be part of this project. I know that the club needs time, that you can't change everything in one or two weeks, but I'm sure that the future will be much better. I like the way things have evolved. When you are at Barcelona you always have to work to be among the biggest teams.

The conquest of La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup were the highlights of his debut as an FC Barcelona player, but in the Champions League it can be said that Xavi Hernandez's side failed to progress beyond the group stage: "What happened to us in the Champions League was disappointing but LaLiga was very, very positive. For next season both competitions have to be very good. Sometimes the first season for the players is the most difficult, for me it might have been easy but for us as a team it was difficult because of the expectations, because we started at a very high level."

On Leo Messi's possible return to FC Barcelona after two seasons with PSG, Lewandowski said: "We have to wait and see if Leo comes to Barcelona. Hopefully he will come. Maybe in a few days we will know something more concrete. I know that playing with him is very easy, because Leo can play with you from any position on the pitch, at any time of the game. He is a player that any team would want to have.

For Lewandowski, the former FC Barcelona player from 2004 (when he made his first-team debut) to 2021 is a real number one and he was full of praise for him: "He's not just a Barcelona legend, he's the one who changed the club. It's going to be fantastic if he returns to Barcelona.“
