Rivaldo, once a Barcelona leader, now speaks about the club on a regular basis in the media through his partnership with Betfair.

He didn’t hold his tongue after the 4-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League: “There are no players in the squad who believe in a comeback, it’s impossible to turn this around."

Speaking to Betfair, and looking at Lionel Messi's future, he continued: “The thrashing will most likely be Messi’s last Champions League game with Barcelona at Camp Nou. Barcelona can’t give Messi the hope of having a fighting chance of any important title. His future is at PSG, even more having seen their exhibition at Camp Nou. It’s a team that can give him the chance to win titles.”

The Brazilian excluded Messi from criticism. “He’s spent years taking on the team’s responsibility," he added. "This season his best team-mate went to Atletico, Luis Suarez, in an incomprehensible sale that made them stronger than ever.”
