Rio Ferdinand wants Barça's Araujo at Man Utd: 'He's an unreal centre half'

"I'd probably say he's the standout, but whether he's gettable or not, I don't know"

Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand, now a commentator for various media outlets, regularly talks about the current affairs of his ex-team and has commented that for him, without a doubt, the English team should sign Ronald Araujo.

"The Uruguayan boy at Barcelona -- Araujo," Ferdinand said. "Whether he's gettable or not, I think he's brilliant. He's an unreal centre half.

"He has every attribute to be perfect for the Premier League. I'd probably say he's the standout, but whether he's gettable or not, I don't know."

Araujo has become one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in the world after arriving at Barça for a ridiculously low price under former sporting director Ramon Planes.

He has made a name for himself in the first team and under Xavi has become one of the flagships of his project. Last season he ended up renewing his contract with Barça until 2026 and he has a release clause of €1 billion euros. Before he renewed, several Premier League teams approached him, but Araujo decided to stay because of his gratitude to the Blaugrana.

It is very likely that at the end of the season, the club and player will once again talk about a contract renewal that will see him virtually sealed for life at Barça. Araujo has no intention of leaving despite the fact that he would certainly have big offers.
