Rey Manaj continues to fight against the tide

The closer he seems to the exit door, the more goals he scores in Barça colours

Since arriving from Albacete for 700,000 euros in January 2020, Rey Manaj's time at FC Barcelona has been a real rollercoaster. While he has a contract until 2023, he has been on the transfer list since last pre-season, when he was allowed to skip Barça B's pre-season training camp in order to find a new team in Greece.

Manaj ended up staying and played an important role for Barça B last season, scoring 14 goals in 22 appearances. The club has already signed his replacement, Jordi Escobar, who started yesterday's match, and Manaj finds himself back on the transfer list. The club is hoping to receive a decent amount for the Albanian forward this window. His 45 minutes against Nàstic de Tarragona, in which he scored an impressive hat-trick, won't have done any harm in this regard. While Koeman will have been impressed by his showing, it is understood that he doesn't see him as an option for the first team squad.

Against the tide

F.C. Famalicão are understood to be leading the race for his signature, but Cádiz are not far behind. This was the case, at least, until his hat-trick performance in yesterday's friendly. He is a true killer with character and stamina. The closer he seems to the exit door, the more goals he scores. Manaj left the ground yesterday with the match ball signed by his team mates, following his first hat-trick in Barça colours.
