Revealed: the role Barça have prepared for Todibo this season
The club wants the 19-year-old to train with the first team, with limited chances of game time, before making a decision on his future in the summer
Jean Clair Todibo is feeling like a free man today after escaping his Toulouse nightmare and the dream of being a starter at the Camp Nou is edging ever close. However, at the tender age of 19, there's still a long way to go before that dream becomes a reality.
Barça were forced to bring forward the transfer after the French club threatened to make Todibo sit out the next six months without any playing time. It'll also give the defender six months to adapt to his new surroundings.
One thing Todibo is unlikely to get is regular playing time with the senior squad at the Camp Nou this season. The plan is for him to regain his fitness and adapt to the team's system and what would be required from him.
He's gone from training with the reserves to training alongside Lionel Messi. He'll only play if Valverde believes he is ready or in the case of an injury crisis at centre back. It's possible, in the Supercopa de Catalunya or matches late in the season he could make an appearance too.
Valverde will then decide at the end of this current campaign whether to retain the youngster for the first team or loan him out to another LaLiga side.
Todido is set to train with the senior squad for the first time this afternoon.
