Reports in France suggest Neymar is once again waiting for Barcelona
The Brazilian has not yet signed his contract renewal with Paris Saint-Germain
The soap opera surrounding Neymar's future is back. Just when it seemed he was going to renew with Paris Saint-Germain, he's lured everyone back in. The former Santos man believes Lionel Messi will not sign for PSG and, as he still wants to play with the Argentine again, is contemplating a return to France. In France, L'Equipe proclaim 'officially' that there is a 'Neymar Case.'
The French newspaper reports that Neymar's put the ice on his contract renewal just when an agreement had been reached, although nothing signed. Ney is putting off signing with the Ligue 1 champions amid pressure from Messi and Barça to come back to Camp Nou. Neymar maintains his desire to play alongside Messi once again and the return to the presidency of Joan Laporta allows thoughts that a deal could be possible. At the very least, the 'feeling' that there wasn't with Josep Maria Bartomeu now exists, so Neymar's Catalan Dream is back on the table.
It represents a dramatic change of events. When Messi seemed ready to leave Barça whatever, PSG promised Neymar they would fight to keep him. That was a reason for excitement for the Brazilian, who negotiated and agreed his renewal, without signing it. However, Laporta's return and the growth of Barcelona under Koeman seems to have provoked a change of intentions for Messi, who is now seriously considering staying at the club of his lige. Given that, Neymar's not only frozen his renewal with PSG but is now thinking about a Barça return.
Depending on how the season ends, everything indicates that if Neymar remains firm in his desire to come back to Camp Nou, PSG will have to negotiate a deal. If not, he could leave for free in 2022. What's a summer without a Neymar soap opera?
