Reports in France are clear: Messi edges towards PSG, Mbappe out

Messi's possible move to France could open the door for Mbappe to go to Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi's futures appear to be linked. Or at least that's what they believe in France, where various reports assure that Messi's possible arrival at Paris Saint-Germain would leave to the exit of Mbappe next summer. It's that last chance PSG will have to sell Mbappe for cash, if he doesn't renew, as his contract's up in 2022 and so far he's been reluctant to renew.

RMC Sport claim the situation around Mbappe is tenser than ever. The club fear the player is waiting for his contract to expire, given his people have not yet shown any real interest in extending. Given that context, sporting director Leonardo wants things to be clear one way or another as soon as possible so that the club can at least make money on Mbappe before losing him for nothing.

Meanwhile, with negotiations with Mbappe close to death, talks to extend Neymar's deal are on track. Therefore, PSG are seriously considering the option of going for Messi. Financially, the possible exit of Mbappe would facilitate the signing of Messi, which would help the club deal with the loss of Mbappe, a player with a decade still ahead of him.

It's no secret that Real Madrid have been chasing Mbappe for a while. Los Blancos are confident he won't extend his contract. If he did, signing him would be almost impossible. If Mbappe's desire to joing Madrid is firm, PSG will look for a sale next summer which will help them turn their attention to Messi.
