The Spain international is out of contract but would like to stay at the Bernabeu

Marco Asensio is not considering a move to Barcelona. This is according to Cope, who underline that, even if he is released in June, signing for Barça is not in his plans.

"Asensio has never thought about signing for Barça, even if he does not renew his contract with Real Madrid," El Partidazo de Cope reported Monday.

In this sense, they highlight the celebration that made the footballer in the last clásico at Spotify Camp Nou. That day the Spain international, not knowing that his goal would be disallowed for offside, pointed to the Madrid crest -- a gesture with which he made it clear that he did not mind closing the doors on the Blaugrana.

Asensio's objective

Asensio's objective is to renew his contract with Madrid, but his continuity is not yet assured. He has Jorge Mendes as his agent, a figure close to Joan Laporta, but the player's intention is not to play for Barcelona.

He is presented as one of the great market opportunities in the event that he does not reach an agreement with Madrid. The 27-year-old continues to be an outstanding player, although he has struggled to establish himself in Madrid's starting XI. A serious knee injury four years ago halted his progress and it has taken the striker longer than expected to get back to his best.

Luis Enrique counted on him at the World Cup in Qatar, but new coach Luis de la Fuente left him out of the squad for his first call-up recently. This summer will be key for the future of Asensio, who will not be short of offers if he is finally released.
