Zidane wants Los Blancos to pay his release fee clause

Clement Lenglet could become a new battleground for Barca and Madrid. The Sevilla player is liked by Barca staff but Zinedine Zidane wants to add him to his squad for next season. Madrid's coach has asked Florentino Perez to pay his 30m euro release clause to sign him, a number which is very good value compared to the prices of some players out there on the same level.

Zidane wants to reinforce the defence which has been weak since Pepe left. They play with Ramos and Varane but the Frenchman usually misses a lot of games out injured each season. Vallejo is not at the right level yet and Zidane thinks Lenglet is the man needed. His great game against Man United was further evidence that convinced the coach.

Barca had him on their list of potential future signings. Last summer Valverde asked for a centre-back and the names was on the table as a younger alternative to Inigo Martinez. However in the end they brought in Yerry Mina. He might be loaned out and then Barca would need a new defender. However if he left Sevilla he would want to play for a side where he could start. Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique have those spots nailed.

"I don't know if I'm cheap or not. I don't talk about contracts because I don't want to. I'm working to do the best I can," said Lenglet.
