Fabian Ruiz could be one player too far for Barcelona B. The Real Betis midfielder has been followed by the Catalan club for more than a year and would be the ideal statement signing for January as the second team look to kick-start their season.
Fabian would arrive with an eye on the first team, too, due to his quality and potential. But the club have been told 'no' by Real Betis, who want to keep the player at the club. He's playing regularly in Quique Setien's side and even opened the scoring in the Seville derby win last weekend.
'El club de la mitjanit' revealed on Tuesday that the young midfielder (21) has a price of between 12 and 15 million euros. However, Betis have no intention of losing him. They have said 'no' to Barcelona's offer and to keep the player happy they will offer him a new contract to show how highly they rate him. They believe he has a huge future at the club.
Barça have followed Fabian for a while and their interest increased last season when he impressed while on loan with Elche. His perfomances were brilliant. His versatility across midfield is a big plus, as is his stature (nearly 1.90m tall).
Already a Spain U21 international, Valencia are also keen on Fabian. But Betis gave Los Che the same response they gave Barcelona: He is not for sale and he will renew his contract with the Verdiblanco soon.
