Real Betis prepare for Emerson negotiations with Barcelona

The Brazilian's future is complicated as he is co-owned by both clubs

The recent election at Barcelona, won by Joan Laporta, has left a number of fronts open for the new president to resolve when he officially takes charge in the coming days.

One of the issues involves players like Emerson, who is owned by Barça and currently on loan at Real Betis, who also co-own the Brazilian's economic rights.

With the right-back's future unclear, Betis have started to look at how to get the most money possible out of any potential operation this summer.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Barça's intention to have Emerson as part of the first-team squad has been complicated by coach Ronald Koeman's doubts, which could lead to a sale instead.

If he's sold this summer, Betis would pocket 50 percent of the transfer. If Barça decide to keep him and sell him later, then it would be 20 percent for Betis and the rest for Barça.

Initially, Betis were interested in keeping Emerson, but a poor offer that didn't even reach 10 million euros for his remaining rights was quickly turned down by the Blaugrana.

It remains to be seen if other names enter the operation. Oscar Mingueza, the cited media explain, is well-liked by Betis and Junior Firpo's still not been completely played for, so there could be room for negotiation.
