Rakitic: "It's easy when you play with the best"
Ivan Rakitic impressed on his Barcelona debut, playing on the right side of a three-man midfield and sending through a clever pass for Munir El Haddadi's goal at the beginning of the second half.
It was an ecouraging sign not just for Rakitic, but for the new look Barça as well. The former Sevilla player, however, was keen to credit the role of his teammates.
"When you play with the best players in the world everything is easier," he explained.
"My role in the team is to work hard and to offer the best version of myself for the team to win matches and titles.
"[Against Elche] it wasn't an easy game. The first match of the season is always complicated and, on top of that, we had to play the second half with 10 men.
"We have confidence in our football, though, and despite not getting the breakthrough for a while, we got there in the end."
As for Munir, who benefitted from Rakitic's assist, the Croatian said that he is "a player with a lot of talent who must continue working with the same enthusiasm."
