Raheem Sterling move to Barcelona depends on Ousmane Dembele
The Man City forward could arrive on loan in the winter window with a buy clause
Barcelona’s sports staff never rest. After the summer market they are starting to work on the winter plans. With Antoine Griezmann leaving on the last day of the window the club have some margin in terms of signings. Barcelona have two spots free in the squad.
The board think a midfielder is needed, after Ilaix Moriba left and Wijnaldum chose PSG.
They are also interested in an attacker. That’s where the Ousmane Dembele situation comes in. If he is going to stay and sign a new deal, he will be used. If not, then Barcelona will look elsewhere.
Raheem Sterling is a potential arrival, if Dembele leaves or refuses to sign a new deal. The Man City forward has a similar profile to Dembele. Mateu Alemany was previously in contact with City in the summer over Sterling and another player. The good relationship has continued.
Pep Guardiola doesn’t mind Sterling leaving and the forward, out of contract in 2023, doesn’t want to renew and would like to play at Barca. The Catalan club, if it comes up, would look to loan him in the winter window with an obligatory option to buy next summer.
