The Barcelona midfielder will not play again this season for the Catalans

Barcelona midfielder Rafinha underwent surgery on an ACL injury in his knee on Tuesday and will be sidelined for the next six months, the Catalan club have confirmed.

"First team player, Rafinha, has had the ligaments of his left knee successfully operated on," Barça said in a short statement.

"The intervention was carried out by Dr. Ramon Cugat under the supervision of the medical services of the Club, and he will be out of action for approximately six months."

Rafinha was injured in the game at the Wanda Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid. However, he was able to finish the match and it wasn't until the following day that the severity of the problem was revealed following tests back in Barcelona.

The Brazil international's bad luck continues. He was out for several months after injuring the meniscus in his knee against Granada in 2017 and was also sidelined for a long time after picking up an injury against Roma in 2015.
