Umtiti habla sobre su renovación con el Barça / | Canal Football Club

Barça believe they will hold on to the France defender after recent meetings

Barcelona are not singing and dancing yet but they are now feeling far more optimistic about renewing Samuel Umtiti's new contract.

The recent meetings between the players' agents and the club have been fruitful and there is a possibility he will renew his contract and increase his buy-out clause, which currently stands at 60 million euros.

The agreement is not yet done, but things are coming together and it's expected that in three weeks' time everything will be settled, for good or for bad.

The Blaugrana want to wrap everything up  before Umtiti heads  off to Russia for the World Cup with France.

Umtiti's future at the club was up in the air and it still is.

There are various clubs, among them Manchester United, who have made contact with the player's people to show their interest in signing him.

They are ready to pay the player's release clause and a multi-million-euro salary, but for now Umtiti has frozed the negotiations.

He wants to prioritise letting Barça know that it is the best sporting project for him and wants to show his gratitude to them for keeping faith in him.
