RAC1: Barcelona looking at Ivanovic and Skrtel to fill gap
They are hoping to sign a centre back to cover for Umtiti and Vermaelen
Barcelona have decided to sign a centre-back in the winter window say RAC1 who also put forward Branislav Ivanovic and Martin Skrtel as the two players the club are targeting.
They say they want a right-footed defender with experience and who doesn’t take up a non-EU spot.
Ivanovic is 34 and plays at Zenit St Petersburg. The Serb has a lot of top level games under his belt with Chelsea.
Skrtel, at Fenerbahce, is 34 too and has previously been on the agenda for Barca even if they eventually went elsewhere.
Thomas Vermalelen being out for a month as well as Samuel Umtiti being treated for a knee injury to try not to have surgery means that Barca are very alert to the market situation when it comes to defenders.
