New FC Barcelona head coach, Quique Setien, used his first press conference to send a message to the club's budding youngsters and how he plans to use the academy going forward.
Setien is known for taking a keen interest in the development of the next generation of stars at every club he's worked for. "This club has an extraordinary academy. I don't know all of the players extremely well but I'm sure many of them will come and train with the first team."
The new coach was clear that if a youngster deserved a spot in the team, he'd ensure they were given playing time. "From the bottom up, if they are given a chance it's because they deserve it. I absolutely have a willingness to take care of the kids because they bring positive energy and, aside from that, they make sure those above them don't get too comfortable."
"In my previous teams, I've always said the same message to the kids and followed it up: if you've earnt it, you can play in the first team and be another member of the squad."
