Nasser Al Khelaïfi, president of PSG, was in Paris on Monday in an urgent meeting on the subject of Neymar. Although Al Khelaïfi is the president, Barça believe the move for Neymar is the work of Antero Henrique, who was appointed technical secretary in June, with the intention of making a signing to make the jump up in quality to the elite.
Keeping Verratti, signing Alves, signing Yuri Berchiche, getting rid of Ben Arfa, Jesé, Lucas and Krychowiak have been his fist moves in the summer market. But attempts to sign Kylian Mbappé have failed and the club’s sights have moved onto Neymar, who is known to be uncomfortable in Barcelona.
There are two possible outcomes to the Neymar saga: he signs for PSG or stays at Barça. If he signs, PSG have a player they’ve wanted for a long time, who they think will push the team forward and with a positive, creative, friendly and magic international image that can only be good for PSG.
The other option is that Neymar stays at Barça. In that case, PSG will do nothing to quieten the rumours. They don’t mind the rumours and puts pressure on a Barcelona PSG think have it in for them since Rosell was president. The attempts to sign Verratti, Marquinhos and Silva did not go down well in Paris. That’s why they are happy to let the rumours run.
