PSG stick to their guns and won't sell Neymar on the cheap

Neymar regresó a París y se reunió con Leonardo Araújo / | sport

The Brazilian met with Leonardo yesterday and the club informed Neymar he wouldn't be allowed to leave 'on the cheap'

Neymar returned to Paris yesterday and he was told, in person, that an exit from PSG won't be made easy. There's no rush on the part of the French champions and negotiations could drag on as PSG will only sell if the offer on the table is satisfactory.

After landing in the country following an extended stay in Brazil, he immediately went to PSG's offices where he would later meet with their director of football Leonardo.

The Brazilian spent three hours working away from the group with a fitness coach but speaking with Leonardo about his reasons for turning up late.

THE MEETING

According to sources close to the player, the meeting was cold and both sides were quite distant. Leonardo explained why Neymar would be fined for failing to turn up on time. Neymar responded by saying he still had a few extra days holiday and this was agreed with PSG before he left for the Copa America.

The stance from PSG when it comes to transferring Neymar was also not what the Brazilian expected - or wanted - to hear. The French giants won't sell for the sake of it and are sticking firm to their high asking price.

Leonardo reminded Neymar that PSG spent €222m to bring him there only two years ago and offered him much higher wages than he was currently on at FC Barcelona.

PSG president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, wants to get most of the money back he invested in Neymar. Barça simply can't afford to do that so would love to include a player or two to bring the price down.

Leonardo also informed Neymar that his recent comments about enjoying Barça's 6-1 victory over PSG the most. The Brazilian responded by saying he didn't see it as disrespectful as he was merely being honest.

Due to arriving late, Neymar won't travel with his teammates to play Dynamo Dresden. He's also been ruled out of their second preseason friendly against Nuremberg on the 20th.

MEDICAL TESTS

The player will today head to the Hospital Americano in París to undergo medical tests, just as his teammates did last week.

PSG's season officially begins on the 11th August against Nimes.
