The France international is out of contract next summer

Barcelona have made a move to try and sign Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot. The midfielder's people have been in contact with Eric Abidal and Pep Segura, who have spoke to PSG about a possible deal. The French club, for now, have said there's no chance they will sell. A deal will be tough this summer. Rabiot's out of contract next summer and could join Barça for free then if there's no deal this year.

Barça's signing committee want to sign two midfielders after the loss of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho. Arthur has already signed and the club are looking at other options. Rabiot is believed to be on the markey and he's spoken with several clubs but Barça have shown the most interest. PSG are the problem. The relationship between the clubs, after the Neymar saga, is not good.

It remains to be seen how things will evolve and if Rabiot will play his part to push through a deal this summer. Barça believe he should be reasonably cheap given his contract situation but PSG have no need to sell. Rabiot's told the Ligue 1 side he's ready to leave Paris and Barça hope to take advantage of the situation. For the moment, though, negotiations are complicated.
