Both parties, the club and the player, would want the deal completed before next Wednesday

Neymar would become the most expensive player in sporting history and the highest paid footballer

The “Neymar case” could be approaching its end if information that SPORT has received from sources close to the operations is confirmed as correct. According to these sources, the French club, owned by the Qatari billionaire Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, could pay Neymar’s release fee – set at €222 million – at the start of next week. The aim would be to have the deal completed by Wednesday.

Both PSG and Neymar’s father have agreed to this plan of action to finish the saga as soon as possible. The deal would be the biggest in the history of football. Now, no one doubts that a deal is being worked out, even those who were denying it previously. Nevertheless, it is the most complex contract in the history of football and both parties want to avoid making the mistakes that led to an appearance before the National Court in Spain after the move to Barcelona. Therefore, the contract is being gone through with a fine-tooth comb, particularly the tax aspects.

The first consequence of PSG’s decision to pay the release fee will be that Neymar will leave Barça’s US tour – the money has to be paid at the Spanish football league office by the player or a representative.

It will make him the King Midas of football. He will be the most expensive player ever and, if we consider the money he and his father will receive as a signing on bonus and what he will get from PSG every season, the best paid in the history of football as well.
