PSG and Inter Milan: possible suitors for Messi

The ex-Barça captain could end up in Ligue 1 or Serie A by the end of the window

Leo Messi's future appears to lie in France or Italy.

PSG, backed by billionaire owners, have never hidden their desire to bring the best player in the world to the Parc des Princes. Now that he is available, they will do everything they can to convince him to put pen to paper.

Inter Milan, a team with a history of signing outgoing Barça stars - such as Luis Suárez in the 1960s and Ronaldo in the 1990s - are also interested in the player. Roman Abrahmovich's Chelsea also hold a long-standing interest in Leo Messi, while Manchester United would also be interested if a deal could be done.

Manchester City, however, according to Pep Guardiola, will not try to sign the player after securing the signing of Jack Grealish.

PSG: front-runners

As things stand, Messi looks most likely to join Mauricio Pochettino's PSG ahead of the 2021-22 season. However, if Chelsea follow through on their interest in striker Romelu Lukaku, Inter may make a late move for the Argentina captain.

It is understood that Messi is not interested in a move to the MLS at this time, as he wishes to remain at the pinnacle of European football and win the Champions League once more.
