"Prison is not the solution -- Barça's comment on Catalan separatists' sentences
The Blaugrana have released a comment following Monday's decision in a Spanish court
FC Barcelona have released a statement after nine Catalan politicians and civil leaders were sentenced to between nine and 13 years in prison on Monday.
The Catalan club have said they are against the ruling made by a court and said that the only way to resolve the conflict is "exclusively through dialogue."
Barça were the first Catalan institution to comment after the sentences, handed out for the defendants' involvement in the region's push for independence and the 2017 referendum.

Here is the FC Barcelona statement:
"In the same way that the preventive prison sentence didn't help to resolve the conflict, neither will the prison sentence given [on Monday], because prison is not the solution.
"The resolution of the conflict in Catalonia must come exclusively from political dialogue.
"Therefore, now more than ever, the club asks all political leaders to lead a process of dialogue and negotiation to resolve this conflict, which should also allow for the release of convicted civic and political leaders.
"Barcelona also expresses all its support and solidarity to the families of those who are deprived of their freedom."
