Police raid Barcelona club offices as part of BarcaGate investigation
The Catalan club had a visit from the Mossos on Monday morning
Catalan police raided Barcelona’s offices on Monday as part of the BarcaGate investigation, before going on to arrest former president Josep Maria Bartomeu, Oscar Grau and two others.
The police came to the office and took documents that the club had, in search of more proof for the investigation.
Barcelona are accused of paying I3 Ventures up to 1 million euros to boost Bartomeu’s profile and criticise his critics, including current players at Barca.
Six Barcelona board members resigned in April 2020 over the issue among other problems in Bartomeu’s management of the club.
The former president himself stepped down later last year ahead of a vote of no confidence against him.
The club are set to appoint a new president on Sunday March 7, when elections will be held.
