Poker game underway between Barca and Ousmane Dembele
The French forward's people and the club have now spoken by only by phone
Barca have had, for a while, a certain annoyance with Ousmane Dembele. The French international’s contract expires in June 2021 and he can leave the club for free then if he does not renew his deal.
It’s been a few days since contact was expected between both sides. It happened in the end via telephone. Despite Dembele’s people not sitting down with them to chat, the club see it as positive that they have finally been able to swap opinions with the Frenchman’s representatives. The club don’t trust them.
The meeting, albeit by phone, served for Barca to explain their position and ask that negotiations to renew his deal begin. They want to reach a deal before the end of the Euros.
If that does not seem likely then the club will put up Dembele for sale in the summer transfer window. They’ve done the numbers and know what they want for him.
