The Bosnian midfielder was presented at Camp Nou on Tuesday

Miralem Pjanic showed his excitement at joining Barcelona and sharing a team with Lionel Messi during his official presentation on Tuesday.

The Bosnian midfielder said Messi is basically an "extraterrestrial" and that he never imagined him leaving Camp Nou despite what happened this summer.

Pjanic, 30, said "it's been important for me to play alongside big players like Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) and Totti (Roma), who have been the best, an example. Now I have the chance to play alongside basically an extraterrestrial."

He continued: "But I want to enjoy myself alongside everyone. We will have 25 players in the squad and everyone's important. I believe in the spirit of a team and that will be important to achieve our objectives."

Asked if he would like to have made the move earlier in his career, Pjanic responded: "I would have like to arrive aged six, but in football the market rules and sometimes you arrive earlier; other times later. I am a professional and I have played for big clubs, all of whom I respect. Today's a dream come true, it's the maximum, and my challenge is to leave behind good memories."

On the threat of Messi leaving this summer, he added: "From the outside, of course I followed and read everything, but I never saw Leo outside (Barça) because he grew here, he's done so much at this club and I think he will end his career here because he's a huge champion, a winner and he has his home here.

"Honestly, I only imagined him here, with another shirt it would have been strange. He seems happy. He's perhaps the best player of all time and it's huge to have him with us."
