An investigation has been launched into the Barcelona's defender's recent interview

According to Cadena COPE, the RFEF's Competition Committee have decided to open an investigation into Gerard Pique's comments about referees during an interview with DjMariio.

The Barcelona defender was open and honest with the YouTuber when he was asked about the level of officiating in Spanish football.

"If 85 per cent (of referess) favour Real Madrid, how are they not going to whistle in Madrid's favour?" said Pique. "Even if it's unconsciously, how are they not going to lean more one way than the other?"

Pique added that he knows referees have a hard job and do their best, but he carried on offering his opinion: "Last season's La Lig is the most grotesque I have experienced in my life. If we compare (decisions given) between Madrid and Barça, there's a huge difference."

Given these comments, the Competition feels Pique has called into question the honesty, professionalism and impartiality of the refereeing collective and could punish him.
